Best Laid Plans

Last week I decided to take a week off and just be. Thinking space was needed and some time to just let my world fall into place and if I can't do that when I am at home and not working for 'the man', then when can I? I decided to not post on social media from Monday to Friday (though I did still look once a day normally whilst drinking my after dinner coffee), and I stuck to it. There was one sad exception where I felt I needed to be seen and comment, but apart from that I didn't share my life with the world on line. The result of this was one the most productive weeks ever. And yes I ended up working on mittens, but I just got so much done.

I dyed yarn and fabric. I made one full pair of mittens and two pairs of hand warmers, I started a new drawing, I read, I caught on pod casts and some TV. It was amazing and such an eye opener on what a time suck things like Twitter, Instagram and Face Book can be - or for me they are.

I also felt calmer and slept better - but that could be that I am into week four of daily yoga and meditation practise. This is my attempt to mend my body after 5 years of working in a dye studio and being too knackered at the end of the day and having issues with my back through the lifting and bending. My back is so much better as is my Bernhardt Roth Syndrome for changing my life. I am still struggling with depression and my  black dog is kind of Labrador sized at the moment and I am also having some agoraphobia problems. I thought that might happen once I stopped going out to work five days a week. I will find a level but it might take a while. Sometimes it is just finding a reason to 'go and do' something and I am shit at that.

This week is less productive but I did make one colour work hand warmer yesterday and made a good start on its mate, but today I am rather goofy and accident prone so who knows what will happen? I already had a melt down because on the third attempt I fucked up something so I might take a day and just hide in a corner until my mojo re balances.

Finally I am hoping to officially launch my shop the second week in September so watch this space and my social media for news - there will be a giveaway to celebrate and I would love for one of my blog readers to win what will be on offer.

In the meantime here are a couple of pictures for you.

Sheepie Mittens for the win. I love these and plan to make more of them - these are size medium to large I need to tweak my pattern to get a small size - it is on my 'to do' list.

Dreamily soft blue Pom-Pom mittens. Same size as above. The yarn  for these is just really so so soft and the dark parts of the pom pom is from some of my hand spun yarn. I do love a good Pom-Pom!

That is it from me for now. I'm going to turn off the computer before I break something. Hope  you all have a productive and happy week.
